It is my very great pleasure to welcome you to the virtual home of the British International School of New York.
Our unique school combines the National Curriculum for England and Wales with the philosophy and ethos of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IBPYP). This blend allows us to create a curriculum which is specific to our environment and rigorous enough to be portable for the modern international world we live in.
As the newly appointed Headmaster, I am very excited about being able to lead a school which is already committed to innovation, along with the new developments and expansion that our growing community has to look forward to in the near future. Our student body continues to grow in number whilst our commitment to small classes allows us to concentrate on reinforcing the traditional values of good manners, discipline, and commitment to the school. To allow for this expansion we not only have some new space at Waterside for classrooms and specialist teaching rooms, but we also look forward to welcoming many new teachers who bring a variety of new skills and experiences to strengthen our commitment to high standards.
I am especially passionate about one new venture for the 2008/9 academic year, the launch of the school's House System. Academic, sporting and community competitions and projects will aim to offer the children a chance to shine in their own areas of strength. This system will help all of our children to develop their sense of competition and worth within a larger team.
I hope you are able to take a good look around our site and read some of our downloadable newsletters to get a taste and feel for the day to day life in school, however it is only by visiting our stunning Manhattan campus that you will be able to really appreciate the busy, happy atmosphere created by the students and staff.
Yours sincerely
