Originally brought up in North London, Ms. Bowie regards Norfolk, where her family live, as her base in England. She spent four years teaching the British National Curriculum in North London where she undertook the roles of English, ICT and assessment coordinator, before entering international education.
Her experience in international education spans six years, four of which have been spent teaching at Westlake Academy in Texas with the two years prior spent at The International School of Monaco. Both schools offered International Baccalaureate programs. She has experienced the Primary Years Programme authorization process in two schools, latterly as PYP Coordinator. The progress her last school has made was very highly regarded by the IBO authorizing team and the school received numerous commendations and has attracted many visitors interested in the implementation of the PYP. Within a year, the school had met all the recommendations required for evaluation in three years time!
Educated in the UK with a degree from the University of East Anglia in Development Studies and a PGCE from Bishop Grosseteste College, Lincoln, Ms. Bowie is currently undertaking an MA in International Education at Bath University, using summer school and distance learning to complete her courses.
Excited by the prospect of teaching the British National Curriculum within the IBO framework, Ms. Bowie supports the vision and goals of the British International School of New York. Her experience working in a modern school and her experience at all levels of school life (including roles in the senior management team and numerous committees) have well prepared her for becoming Deputy Head at the British International School of New York.
Ms. Bowie enjoys a broad range of cultural pursuits, She enjoys travel and has visited many countries in Europe and beyond as well as the USA. She has an aunty and uncle living in New York and her parents both taught in the United Nations school in the 1960s.
